Communities In Action for Nature

'Communities in Action for Nature': an innovative participative board activity.

We are developing a unique board activity which is participative, ethical, and inclusive and which is designed to:

  • collect and value traditional ecology knowledge (TEK)
  • bridge TEK with conservation science
  • Co-create conservation strategies and solutions for wildlife and nature

This activity will combine natural resource maps drawn by local communities and/or GIS maps to visualize natural resource locations. It will also use a series of figurines, and themed cards to collect Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), bridge it with conservation science and educational activities that build awareness of conservation challenges. This activity will be also used to co-create conservation strategies and solutions together with local communities of Mongolia’s Gobi Desert.

Please note that the materials shown here are prototype versions (not yet in final size, design, or colors). Development is ongoing, and the final activity will be adapted for use with herder communities, other community members, and potentially also schools.
